PSPR - The Final Pinburgh Decay

Over this past week, the results from Pinburgh 2019 — the largest pinball tournament ever held — and Intergalactic Pinball Championships 2019 — the largest non-Pinburgh tournament ever held — finally decayed completely from player’s IFPA profiles. This has caused seismic shifts in the Pinball Statistics Power Rankings, as you can see below.

Following the Replay Foundation’s 2020 announcement, many people took to social media to voice their support of the Replay Foundation, Replay FX, and the Pinburgh and PAPA tournaments of years past. I appreciate all the experiences that I had at Pinburgh tournaments in the past. It took the members and volunteers for the Replay Foundation many years to build their great events, and I’m glad that I still see that enthusiasm within the competitive pinball community, as members work to build tournaments that they enjoy and others can participate in.

New to the Power Rankings this week is the metric that determines rankings: the Pinball Power Index (PPI). The name comes from ESPN’s Football Power Index or Basketball Power Index. Like ESPN, the exact formula is not publicly shared. However, there is an explanation post about all the statistics that factor into the PPI.
