PSPR - September Summary

It has been a little while but I’m finally back with another Power Rankings update. As we move into October, the tournament focus often starts to shift away from destination/circuit-style events and more toward local events for the State Championship Series events and the non-US equivalents. Although there were 2 large circuit events in September, the Northwest Pinball Championships and the Cleveland Arcade Show Tournament, many of the biggest movers month-to-month were players who played in regional and weekly events with attendance well under 100 players.

Coming up in October we will have 3 big events for players ranked in the top 250: The UK Pinball Open, The District 82 Super Series, and Pinball Expo. Of these 3, the Super Series will probably be the most interesting to the Power Rankings. 40 players on this list should be in attendance. Since I built the power rankings to have a bias in favor of more recent play, it’s likely that many of these players will see a jump up in the power rankings.

I’ll try to keep pulling the data about every week and will probably continue just to deliver monthly updates. Although there are often big jumps from week to week after circuit events, the long-term trends (like Escher’s continued dominance) are more interesting in this project.
