January 2023 - Pinball Statistics Power Rankings

Woohoo! Finally, pinball has re-aligned with the Gregorian calendar. 2023 kicked off with the return to a standard 1-year season for IFPA, all IFPA championships series events, and the Stern Pro Circuit. Additionally, the changes for WPPR v5.8 rolled out, which gave us an amazing WPPR boost for The Open - IFPA World Pinball Championships, which was won by Escher Lefkoff.

First, I want to briefly talk about the 3 players who had their PPI increase the most during. 11-time major champion Keith Elwin surged up to 4th with his 2nd place finishes in The Open and INDISC High Stakes, and a 1st place finish in INDISC Classics II. T4-time major champion Daniele Celestino Acciari moved into the PSPR top 10 after finishing 11th in The Open and between 6th-3rd place in Classics Target Match Play, Classics I, Classics II, and High Stakes. First time Major Finalist Travis Murie moved up to 30th after his 3rd place finish in The Open.

I started showing PPI values a few posts ago to show exactly how extreme an outlier Escher Lefkoff is among all currently active players in the IFPA Top 250. However, I also only show the top 100 in each of my posts out of the 250 players evaluated each week, so I am focusing only on the most competitive of the thousands of active competitive pinball players in the world. That being said, most players who do not appear in the top 100 here every week are much closer to the average than the most consistent competitive players who regularly show up in the top echelon of the PSPR rankings.
